the good thing about the 2l was the high pressure pipe is easy enough to change.

Certainly the easy way to drop the subframe

Hi Dazz,

That'll be a wheel bearing on it's way out. The good news is it's not a massive job the bad news is it'll definitely need to go into a mechanic who has a press to press out the old one and put in a new one. It's not a DIY job unless you're mechanically minded in which case you might be able to get the old one out and fit in the new one using a block of wood and a hammer.

If I've got this right, turning right (causing the car to roll left) it'll be the left side bearing either front or back. Whatever you do, get it done ASAP as I knew a bloke who just kept driving with a duff bearing and it eventually locked, put the car into a spin and took him off the road. He lived to tell the tale but the car obviously didn't.

yeah left hand side bearing.

It needs a press to remove, often a big one. I have seen them peg 50 ton presses then go with an almighty bang.

Renaults always seem to be difficult.

Putting it in ideally a press, a vice devised way may work but often you're left with a bearign half out and need to take it to get pressed in anyway.

An alternative and often a cheap way is to get a full hub from a scrappys.
