After several months or try and asking about one of the V6 RXEs i know of,i finally have bought it.
The owner actually has 2 of them, one roadworthy and this one on a SORN.
I wanted this car as again its a great spares car but with maybe to many problems to try to get it roadworthy again,a suspect headgasket problem wouldn,t be a 5 min fix!
So what is it?
Its a Tungsten Grey L reg RXE reg 28/10/93,but it appears to be an early car as it has the early air filter hose setup and i think it has no sunroof,so i guess it was made pre Mar 93,the one i broke last year was register 1/8/93 and again had early features.
This has leather but no ergomatic seats or CD player, but has the early items such as electric rear seats, electric steering column, computer controlled suspension.
Hopefully i will have it on Weds all going well, its been delivered to me.

Sorry for the late update, been very busy in the last few days.
Well i decided to give it a good wash to at least keep on the right side of the neighbours and make it look half presentable.
So i,ve been busy spraying up loads of nuts/bolts etc that i will need to undo, and this car needs it,everything is rusty and tight BUT everything i loosened of did come undone,if very tight!
There are a few suprises though,it has a nearly new centre and rear exhaust boxes,a new O/S driveshaft, new O/S/F caliper.
There are a few bad things i,ve found, its rusty on the rear end,the rear panel is bad,so are both inner sills which are very crusty.
A wiring repair on the suspension isn,t great and it still doesn,t work correctly anyway.
The o/s/f inner shield is broken,a shame as i wanted a spare of that.
The interior smells horrible and it isn,t damp.....

Hi folks
I wanted to ask peoples opinion on the following.
Do i take the engine out of this V6?
Let me explain, its not a terrible job to remove the engine/box BUT i have my doubts as to weather its actually worth doing.
Firstly this car has done 127k and its service history isn,t good,it has a misfire and i think at least 1 headgasket has gone as it has water in the oil,its not good.
The things i do want as spares are items like tensioners, crank pulley, all sensors etc and MAYBE the heads, but not sure about those, the gearbox is unknown,it selects gears but thats not to say its any good, its unknown.
So do i strip what i can in situ or remove the engine/box and strip a bit more(Ring gear)and dump the rest in the boot?
I,am starting to think its not worth the hassle and time/mess to get the engine out just to remove a few items, maybe just try to do it in place,i have a spare new A/C condensor/compressor,i wouldn,t use a S/H starter(already have a spare)but was thinking injectors, hoses, sensors, switches throttle body etc.

I'm no expert but if you remove it then you will have the chance to strip it down and store all the parts that seem serviceable.
If you just remove the parts you know you need and get rid of the rest, at some point you will require something and where will it be????????
My advice is, if you have the time and the space, strip and keep every item, if you plan on keeping your other V6 or may buy an additional one in the future, you'll be pleased you kept everything.

Well i,ve decided to carry on and remove the engine/box so i can obtain more parts and hopefully get a good amount of spares from this to make the effort worth while
The front end of this is rotton, the metal front crossmember is rotton through and every nut/bolt/screw is rusty, seized or rounded off,but i,am getting there...
The D/shafts are disconnected and the whole front has been removed tonight, bumper, crossmember, front panel etc,all fluids are drained and the whole exhaust is removed upto the manifolds, engine mounts are undone and various hoses, cable, wires are also disconected.
I want to actually remove the engine/box next weekend as i want to make space in the boot and remove the fuel pump, sender and any wiring in the rear end before a dirty smelly enging is dumped in there.
The engine oil was actually like mud,the oil/water mix is horrible,i drained the coolant which was very weak but clean.
I have got to remove anything from the rear end before next weekend as i,am not going under the car with that weight in the rear so the handbrake cables, rear discs(new)need to be removed, but not much else, maybe the fuel lines aswell.
I have been taking a few pics and will send some to Saffles when i can over the weekend and maybe when hes well enough he can post them for me.
