Hi all, In the centre console of my phase 2, next to the OBD connector there is a button. No idea what it does or whether it is standard or someone has put it there and connected it to..........who knows what. So, for those with a phase 2, do you have a button there? If so, what is it????? Michael |

It's the 'Dog' button for the alarm. If you want to leave a dog or even the kids in the car when locking it, press this button first and then jump out and lock. The ultra sonic sensor will be ignored and only the door switches / ignition / bonnet will be monitored. Not all ph2s have this. Out of the 3 we've had two did, one didn't. I think it was a modification added on by Renault as the button is one you can buy in maplin rather than a custom cobra button so it seems they made a slight mod to it. Interestingly, Cobra can't assist with this car alarm setup at all. They made it but only to Renaults spec and design and have no tech details on it at all. |

Interesting thanks, and I hope you are now recovering. You are absolutely right - it does look like a Maplin or Tandy (do they still exist?) button and now I know what it is for! I noticed when cleaning up the heater fan that the alarm module was a Cobra - didn't realize that it was standard fit, I assumed it was fitted by the previous owner. Michael |

No they were fitted by Renault and made by Cobra for renault. Cobra however claim to have no specs for this alarm system and are absolutely useless if you ever need help with it. The unit near the blower motor is the flasher and sounder unit and can be swapped out without recoding etc. Mine started going off randomly (something to do with damp) so I switched it for an older one I kept and it worked flawlessly for a few months lol. Tandy do still exist as an online brand but thats it. No high street presence anymore and the people running the online version are not the old Tandy group. They just bought the name / brand and started trading online. |
