Post subject:  Hello - Newbie Here

Hi there, I am a newbie, but not to Safrane ownership. For anyone interested a history of my Safrane ownership. I am currently on my fourth.
My first was a 1996 Phase 1, 2.5 TD Exec which I bought in 2004 and kept for two years, good car but that diesel engine, from the Renault Master and the auto box, weren't a good match, in the end I came to love the car but hate the engine. Next up was a 1998 Phase 2, 2.0 Exec auto, which had one owner prior to me, a noted and somewhat eccentric surgeon, who lived in very posh part of London. That was great car, but having lived on streets of london and only received intermittent maintenance, had a few issues to contend with, notebly driveshafts and suspension. I subsequently bought a Phase 2, 2.5 Exec of eBay to salvage for parts, but found this to have beem modded to such an extent, I couldn't use most of the parts I needed, so I rotated between the 2.0 and 2.5 for a time. I then gave up on the Safrane for a period and traded the 2.0 Exec in for a Mercedes CLK and then around this time last year, sold the 2.5 for spares. But I felt lost without a Safrane so always kept an eye out for anything available, so then earlier this year I spotted a two owner Phase 2, 2.5 Exec on eBay and that is steadily becoming my pride a joy. I am sure it was noticed by forum members as I believe it is mentioned in one of the 'eBay Finds' threads. The Safrane has covered 110k miles, two owners prior to me and has a full service history. This is something I usually treat with a degree of suspician, on any car, but for the first time in my experience, it has proven to be accurate. Again this car has had an interesting life, the previous owner being an established Sculptor and son of a famous 1950's Forumla 1 team owner. I just love all these snippets of information which add to a cars history. All the more pressure on me though, to look after this one.

John

Ah, you've finally validated your account lol. Only a couple of days ago I was in the admin panel and about to wipe it as I noticed two reminders had been sent lol.

Now the burning question remains... Are you also tubaboy on this same forum? - The posts from that user also mention a 2L and a 2.5L but I'm not sure if its just a coincidence or two different people. Doesn't really matter either way (and yes you can have both accounts if they're both yours) I was just curious!

Anyway Welcome / Welcome back!

Hi there, yes I have had a nightmare with my home computing and could not activate my account. I am probably the other tuba boy too as I thought I had an account but it wouldn't recognise my email account. Sometimes I hate IT, and it's what I do for a living!

You can delete other tuba boy if that's possible, I don't intend using that now I've got this one working.

I have had to replace the two back boxes on the exhaust though I have kept original and may repair it as better quality than aftermarket replacement. Fitted a new battery after a month.

Only issue I have is the voice synth started to crackle few weeks ago and then I lost all sound also no readout on display for faults, it just says "speech". I'm it might be wiring or link between speaker, not sure need to check unit under seat.

As for the other account, no worries - I'll leave it as it is as its no harm!

Anyway welcome back!
