Lovely day so I decided to get the V6 out and give it a good polish and take 60 upto date photos of it. Lovely all went well, went to put it back into the garage, started it up and noticed the rev counter wasn,t working,or the oil level gauge or the mileage and trip computer!!!! Well this has happened once before, but after a while checking things fuses, connectors etc I decided to swop the instrument panel for a spare(or 3)I had and everyone worked fine,so the instrument panel is in trouble, everything else works on it fine,i read in the workshop manual about a microcomputer that controls all the items that have stopped working. I,am taking the panel into work and will visit a few people I know,i could just replace it direct with one of the spares but they have high miles on them, just have to see. |

Oh mate thats terrible news. Still at least you're in the right place to get tech info and support. If anyone stands a hope of getting it going, you do! I seem to remember hearing a tale of woe here previously regarding these things dropping dead. If I remember rightly there is a chip that overheats and then doesn't want to function OR it gets too cold and needs a small heater. Can't remember which now. Either way the cure was either a small metal heatsink or a small heater to warm up the chip. Trouble is I can't remember anything explicit as it was years ago that I read it. I hate to say it to you mate but maybe the car is telling you it needs to be used a bit more? |
