At last i managed to get to the bottom of why the K reg V6 cruise control was not working,it was the only item not working and O.K i don,t really need it around town but if its there i like it to work.
So after a check a few weeks ago for various connections and conectivity all was good,so the only thing left was the box that is burried deep under the o/s headlamp,so i decided to change this unit,so after removing the whole front bumper, grille and most of the upper front panel with the headlamps,i finally got to the unit, only held in with 2 10mm bolts,so i swopped if for a spare i had, then rebuilt the front and gave it a quick service and coolant change again,i then swopped the very corroded alloys for a set i refurbed a few years ago i had spare, that made things look a bit better.
Went for a drive and tried the cruise control and it worked fine, over the moon it was the only last thing not working on this car,so pleased it worked after all the hard work....

You refurb your own alloys? - Don't suppose you'd care to fill me in on how sometime? - I have 11 spares that aren't exactly in great condition..

They where very clean in the first place with no kerbing or laquer peel, just a bit dull with a few chips,i removed the tyres(a must)and just gave them a light sand and repaint then laquered them, they look very good but not what a refurb place would do,but it only cost £25 for the materials. Also the V6 alloys are very easy to do,the phase 2 ones are more difficult.
