A few weeks ago i decided to steam clean the engine bay on the K reg,it wasn,t bad but could of been better,i warmed it right up until the fans kicked in,then turned it off and covered up important items like dizzy cap, computers etc.
All went well it ran fine afterwards and came up lovely, last week i noticed a slight misfire,so today i replaced all 6 plugs for new ones i had in stock, and i swopped the cap/rotor/leads,i started it up and all was fine, ran spot on until the fans came in again,no problems.
I suspect water ingress into the front bank of plugs.
Also i replaced the front rocker cover for one i had painted at our bodyshop and fitted a new expansion bottle to finish the engine bay tidy up.
Looks very nice in the engine bay now with lots of new nuts/bolts and cleaned up items, well pleased

Your garage has a bodyshop too? Do they do scratch repairs with ultra rare renault paints like barely gold?

I had a misfire with the 2.5 i recently broke back in january. It turned out to be the dizzy cap. It would run ok for a few seconds and then become very rough and irratic and at the same time i could hear a very loud clicking. When I listened carefully it was coming from the dizzy. When I looked at it running in the dark later that evening you could see the dizzy cap was knackered as you could see the sparking inside it. It was so old and frail it had lots of tiny cracks in it (and metallic pieces of dust everywhere) and thus you could see it sparking all over the place - clearly the spark to the plugs was not a strong one!

Yeah we have a bodyshop, not sure about Barley gold, but they had Persian Red because they painted a diecast model for me!
It is a bit handy working for a Renault garage at times......
