Took the K reg to work today to do a few jobs... Firstly i had the remove the bumper/grille and indicators as i needed to look at why the air horns had stopped working, the compressor working but the actual horn didn,t. This turned out to be a hose that had disconnected between the horn and the compressor,so that was an easy fix(i put 2 small clips on the hose incase it happenned again. The second job was to change the o/s headlamp washer jet,the bracket had broken that holds it to the back of the headlamp,so i had to remove the o/s headlamp to get to that, this all proved a bit tricky as i had the remove the whole front panel to gain access. Once this was done i started to rebuild the front end,all went well,i replaced the front fogs for yellow items aswell, this car should have yellow fogs but had one white and one missing foflamp when i bought it. Great all done,i gave it a good steam clean and dry of and it was great, that was until i tried to open the bonnet, the realease handle was loose and i went a VERY light shade of white,i know what had happened, the release cable had become disconnected when i was messing around with the front panel. So back up in the air again and with the help of a friend and a long crowbar he managed to release the catches in super quick time, which was a relief!!!! Bonnet up i saw the problem straight away, the release cable had come out of the half moon shaped holder and come of the n/s catch,so carefully replacing the cable and trying it several times BEFORE i closed the bonnet all was well,a good end but i was very, very worried for a while. |

Sounds like you had fun! The bonnet cables are a pain if they go wrong. I got lucky last time but the local dealer said the only other way to open it would be to break the headlight through and do it by hand that way. |
