so put it up on gumtree and the retards have started asking questions.

For example does it have alloys, well theres pictures with steelies and wheel trims so idiot why not look at the pictures?

Does it have full service history? Yes its a ferrari not a safrane so its fully dealer serviced, idiots. I have yet to see a car from about 4 years or so with any sort of stamps, most places like us don't stamp them unless the customer requests it.

2 keys, I have never bought a car with 2 keys, we had to pay extra to get a 2nd key with a brand new 0 mile skoda ffs!

People need to learn to not only use their eyes to look at the pictures but actually learn to read, I assume they can as they ask all sorts of stupid questions.

TBH I think the scrap pile calls, shame too as its a nice car and no faults and all sorts of preventative maintenance done to it.

Insurance also has gone up on it as I double checked, I'm not paying over 650 quid to insure a safrane, thats just mental money and also more than an m5 as well...

Interesting reading..
I totally agree, stupid questions despite photos and there answers in the writeup, idiots.
Good luck with selling it but as you know a Safrane has a very small fanbase.
Spare key is a good ask though, all Renaults come with them and people seem to misplace them etc so it is good to have a spare, but in the case of a Phase 2 the casing will be broken anyway as most are.
Stupid insurance though and with that and the fuel costs they are not a great buy.

Mine has 2 perfect keys :-)
Insurance is stupid. Costs me more to insure the (£400 worth) Safrane than the (167mph £15k+) Alpine A610 and the (160mph £12.5k+) Lotus Esprit combined. Make sense of that!!
Thank god mine runs on LPG. Currently doing 300-400 miles a week in the safrane which costs about £40-45. You guys tell me what the petrol would cost (I guess £70-90)
And yeh, there are far too many idiots out there. The world is full of the cretins.

The key was perfect but swapped it out with my sisters laguna one. Funnily enough her laguna is one of the only cars I can think of that has 2 keys.

I done 80 miles in the car yesterday and from fuel light to fuel light I was 30 quid. Although I was stuck in heavy traffic for a while and the ac on full tilt.

If I had the space I would keep it and do something silly with it, but I don't and with other things like business picking up at a exponential rate I just don' have the time.

The best offers from trader mates for the car is 200 quid. Which is scrap value but I also have my tax to tax in.

Odd thing here but out of all three safranes we've had two of them had two keys. The third one only had one as someone along the daisy chain of six owners had lost the other but I knew when I bought it that it had served a hard life. I figured if it lasted me three months I'd be happy. It lasted 2.25 years and even then was still strong when I decided to break it (though it was an accident waiting to happen as I noticed the shock mounts were rusted right through). My missus recently bought a car with only one key and that was only because we needed another car in a mega hurry. If we didn't we would have held out for one with two as we nearly always do.

I agree though that people do ask dumb questions, no idea why I think a lot of them just see it, skim read and don't absorb the info. Pointless reading in the first place really eh?

Insurance on these has never been good either. I was bloody proud one year when I got mine down to around £400! I was mega chuffed and was telling everyone how well I'd haggled down the insurers.. of course that would be the year I had an accident and saw it sky rocket back up to over £700  Ah well. I read somewhere that the safrane is up there with the range rovers, lotus's etc at group 15? Seems bonkers really as it's nowhere near as powerful as a BMW etc (although I suppose the comfort of the thing can encourage you to drive faster than you realise?)

19 16V is group 15 and half the price.

The safrane is grp 12.

Another odd one the 21 turbo is a grp 14 and beats both the above cars in speed easily.

Another good one, does it have a good battery and does it start?

No it doesn't I simply drive about with jump leads and hope some kind soul will jump start me every time I turn it off. In addition it doesn't start either even though I put the mileage in the ad say I use it everyday and have neve rhad an issue.

I mean wtf.

I don't understand the 2 key thing, if it bothers you go buy another. 200 quid a key isn't bad from renault, less than 100 quid from a mobile guy is even better.

I now remember why I generally don't sell cars it avoids all this hassle.

I like selling high value cars, you get a lot less hassle. People that are happy to shell out 20k on a 2nd hand car are less likely to get into the peasant activity of haggling lol

Well see thats the thing - a second key means you don't need to stump up £200 at a renault dealer lol. Thats why I prefer cars with two of them. Like I said the last saff only had one but I only wanted it to last 3 months so it did well at 2.25 years.

The stupid thing is (and I'll never forgive myself for this) the last safrane I broke up had two keys.. the snag? When I broke it I didn't keep the ECU  It had a rounded bolt or something (can't remember exactly) and I'd meant to get it out but by the time I booked the scrap metal man to collect it I forgot. Now I've broken up #3 I've got all the electronics and ECU but only one key lol. Not going to be possible to get another key for it with the car dismantled lol - not that it matters as it's only IR and the remaining safrane uses RF keys (and they're pain when they go wrong!).

Group 12 eh? - ok thats new on me lol. My insurers don't even show you what group it is they just send me the renewal docs and a certificate and I add them to the pile lol.

 Another one going to the fridge factory eh?

Sorry to hear you're scrapping it thats a shame after all the hard work you've put into it. If I was in a better position I would have taken it off your hands but I simply can't - sorry.

If you want to make a few quid I've seen the following sell on ebay quite well for the safrane:
front grille
headlights
blower motor (you got that already sussed lol)
climate panels
steering wheels (in good condition)
spare tyre kits can be popular for some odd reason - I've known a couple of safrane people purposely hunt down the jack, handle, cover etc.
boot carpet in good nick
AIR BAGS (and covers)- very expensive new and hard to get hold of second hand and they do fail along with the computer.
spoilers
rear wiper motor

Most of those are easy enough to remove and keep in a few boxes.
