Hi all

Some of you may know that I have a safrane stuck on the drive that is dead. I won't go into the reasons but it has become a millstone round my neck and with the health problems I've had, the lack of employment and all the other stuff going on, I'm pretty much through with it. I don't have the skills or knowledge to get this car going and despite pleading with many people, there is no help on offer.

Therefore I've decided it needs to go.

You guys have first refusal. There is however a catch. I have 2.5 sheds full of safrane parts that must go with it plus a spare engine / box, spare gearbox (sat outside for ages though), half of another engine etc. Everything must go. I can't be dealing with this anymore. The car doesn't run so you will naturally need a low loader and a van for all the rest. I also have spare electric chairs that must go too. You will also need to take over this website and forum. There is also a spare electric windscreen that was newly fitted just months before it was removed - it never even had it's heating element used once!

Feel free to PM me with offers.

Saffles.

Update: It seems lady luck likes to have a good laugh at me..

The car has now started. It's not sounding particularly healthy though as there is a loud ticking coming from the block area. I've not investigated thoroughly yet but this may still be a massive headache. If anyone wants to make an offer I will still seriously consider it as the car is a millstone.

There is also the dreaded mayo under the oil cap. The car is not road legal or worthy at the moment so I can't give it a good run but it may be a duff head gasket. I have another engine (130k miles on it) which is known to run reliably but you'd need to switch them yourself.

I've run out of steam with it all mate.

The very thought of having to take out the engine again and put another one in.. well what can I say.. it fills me with dread.

Not a clue mate. V6 spent a long time on the phone to me last night trying to get me to persevere with it. I really dunno what to do to be honest. I just want the hassle to end!

Well I've given a few people by email the chance to take it for nothing - not one has taken up the offer.

No-one here seems to be interested either lol. Looks like i may be stuck with the stubborn *** lol.

Must be said I've been out there with it running today and while I'm still a bit worried about the HG (no water loss yet) while sitting inside I started falling in love with it all over again  All those old memories about finding it, buying it, rebuilding it, driving it, cleaning it, washing it etc.. all came back.

Looking at it logically it would be a bit stupid of me to get shot of it now its running but with winter coming and plenty of other bits needing attention I'm still looking at a struggle.

I'll mull it over for a bit.

Good to hear you are STARTING to see sense and keep the old girl and hopefully the site running for a bit longer.
Come on folks without Saffles we wouldn,t have this small but friendly site, try and give me a bit of a boost in any way you can.

It's not the site I'm worried about.. I can keep that running or hand it over to someone else - I'm not overly bothered about that lol.

I've just been feeling very demotivated by the car being such a pain. The extra rust creeping in all over the engine bay doesn't help as it means I'll have to dismantle half of it again at some point.

That said though, just sitting in it today with the leather smell (which has faded a bit but is still present) really did bring it all back. Dashboard lit up like a tree, radio on, heat blowing round my feet... well.. it's a love hate relationship.

To be honest I couldn't believe it when I posted this topic. I'd been out there with it, given up, came in, posted this, emailed a few folks, sat around sulking, went back out to kick it, ended up tinkering again (while reassuring myself I was wasting my time) and it came back to life Image

I can't figure out if the car decided it was desperate enough to stay or desperate to get away Image

Well I opened the hood today to find the water level lower than it was yesterday. Not a good start. It did go up a bit when I ran it today but I'm not hopeful for this engine.

Despite having a spare I think I will go with the gasket. If it's gone, the car goes. It is hasn't the car can stay. I do have a spare engine and box but no physical way of changing them (by that I mean physical health - I have the tools).

Time will tell..
