Well after a long time searching for a 2nd V6(only 9 roadworthy at the moment)i finally found one and took delivery on Saturday!
The owner was a smashing chap who delivered to my work and i returned him home,i bought it was a load of S/H V6 spares which all came inside the car and then in his works van when he returned to my work for the 2nd time,a really handy amount of spares came with it.
As for the car itself it was an amazing find,i spotted a picture of it on Flikr only one pic but i could see the reg number,so i checked the DVLA website that told me it was still taxed and on the road, the photo was taken in Sept 2011,this was April 2012,so this was a start, then i had to find out its location,i was very lucky here as the person who took the photograph had a username i reconised from another car site i use for old retro cars,i contacted him and after a short wait he said yes it was him who took the pic but he didn,t live there!what he did do though is send me link to Goggle streetmaps which showed the Safrane sitting there in the road and the road name,so i knew the car was roadworthy,i knew the location of the car,so i just had the find the owner,i went back onto my retro car site and put out a request to ask if anyone lived near the Safrane,i got a reply from someone who was 5 mins away,so i asked him to place a note under the wiper with my details and ask them if it was for sale...
A few weeks passed,it was April and the weather was terrible, but then in May i got a message saying the car had been tracked down and the note was placed under the wiper, that was it i just had to wait,i didn,t wait long,2 days later i got a phonecall from the owner, and to top if off he was thinking about selling it due to lack of use,so after a bit of haggling a deal was done and i bought the V6 after a long search, and what a way to buy it.
So the car itself is an Atlantis green RXE with leather and ergomatic seats/CDplayer,the CD player is a later addition, the original stereo was in the passengers footwell.96K its roadworthy, but its not the best condition, its not actually got an undamaged panel on it,every panel is either scuffed, scratched or dinged, the drivers seat is very worn and the whole car has a feel of being a bit tired.
there are a few items not working, which is typical really, but it does drive very well and its got a genuine rebuilt Renault gearbox in it which is superclean and more important changes gear spot on.Theres a new windscreen fitted which is mint, the exhaust isn,t to old and it has new headlamps.
3 owners and both sets of keys,it was registered on 1/8/93 so is perfect for having all the toys and computer controlled suspension fitted as standard,no airbag(Jan 94)but does have an electric sunroof which looks like an aftermarket fit or fitment at the import centre in Southampton,as its totally different to the normal Phase 1 sunroofs and the switch is in a different place, maybe because this is an early car its one of the first to have a sunroof fitted, they were standard fitment from March 93 and i guess this is about that time when it was actually made, the headling is different aswell, its like a cloth version which has sagged a bit, very strange.
To sum it up i,am very happy with the car and its just what i wanted.

Well done. Why did you want another? I presume it's to use so you can keep your first car completely mint? You'll have to get some pictures up... Of both of your cars!

I managed to strip the spare gearbox today and removed all the important sensors and the sump and gearbox main control unit, the opil was rotton and i thought i drained all the oil,how wrong! The sump came of and so did about a litre of oil,all over my neighbours floor in there garage,so i spent as long cleaning up as i did messing around with the box.
I also sorted all the spare wheels i got and decided what tyres and alloys i want to keep and bin the others.i know it might sound criminal talking about binning something but i can,t keep everything and i don,t want anything thats either no use to me or anyone else.......

yeah the gearboxes hold a lot of oil, shame you never had the torque converter, now that holds a hell of a lot of oil.

So alloys... What you got and how much?

yeah I have steelies on mine. Most I see have steelies, in fact its only 2.5's that I have seen with the alloys up here.

I'll just wait for some laguna ones I think.

There was a set of ph2 alloys on ebay the other day - probably still there with tyres. I can't remember the price but they looked in good nick.

In fairness, in france it's common for ph2 to have ph1 alloys.
