Been thinking about what i plan to do to the V6 next year, not got much on my list really as i,ve spent enough time/money on it already, but what have i done in 2012 firstly.
Restored the engine bay, well not really restored it but more like cleaned/detailed it and repainted a few items, replaced lots of nuts/bolts etc which costs peanuts as i have a place near me that deals with nuts/bolts and its very handy and nice staff, always helpful to take an old nut as a sample, but all items are zinc and look the biz.
I was very lucky reall as all the red paint was near mint, just a case of unbolting brackets, clamps etc cleaning or repainting items and then replacing them with new nuts and bolts,it didn,t take long, and was very rewarding as the results looked great.
I also managed to save up and order a few trim items that i wanted due to slight damage, the O/S/F sill trim had a slight ding in it,this bugged me as you could see it,so i bought a new trim, plus a few other bits over the year, but not to much.
I,ve done more cleaning and tried as much as i can to keep it looking as good as possible,a few areas could be improved slightly but this would involve a trip to the bodyshop and this ISN,T happening!!! i see how messy a car gets in a bodyshop and its not nice.....
I managed at long last to get a complete set of matching tyres, this annoyed me as the sidewall pattern was totally different and one pair of tyres was starting the crack,it now has a set of as new Michelin pilot primacy XSE tyres, the spare also a Michelin is totally unused as its never been on the car.
So what are my 2013 plans???
I,ve always cast an eye over the inner wheelarches, but i have a huge fear factor here, thats the fact that every inner arch has a small box which has the connectors for the computer controlled suspension, and the first thing i would have to do is remove each wheel and steam clean the inner arch, this isn,t good with them connectors in there, but i fell the arches could do with cleaning up,also i have covered them with waxoyl over the years so this would need redoing.
There are a few plastic trim items i would like new but its just a simple case that Renault can,t supply them new anymore so i can,t win there.
I will always carry on adding to my brochure collection and have around 10 new items to open over Xmas to add to my collection,so i guess there is always something out there i don,t have, but i have noticed that this is slowing down.
In the summer i broke a V6 RXE and got alot of useful and rare items for my collection,i boxed these up but i need to get all this out again and remove the rare items and store them on there own,at the moment they are stored in with all the other items boxed as electrics, interior, computers etc.
There will be a few more odd jobs to do,there always is on a car this age but i think its all starting to come to an end?
