Well its deadline day tommorrow
The V6 is all on the ramp in the workshop, ready for its gearbox change tommorrow.
I,ve already done a few things
Gave it a good steam clean, hover, windows etc and steamed the door shuts, boot shut and inner wheel archs, all where actually very clean and nearly no mud underneath.
I had a good look up in the air tonight and was very pleased with what i saw.
All brakes are fine so are all the gaitors, rack, driveshaft,no oil leaks, even the low pressure PAS pipe is nice, and no rust at all, sills, chassis legs etc are all fine.
I oiled and greased various items and was very happy with what i saw.
So tommorrow is the big if,i hope it all goes well, its such a shame the bodywork has been through it as the underside and interior are very nice indeed.
Next report i hope i have more good news.....

Hi
ITS DONE!!!!!!!
Yes we have had a very busy weekend on the V6 but i can confirm the gearbox change is all done and went well.
It is a tricky job and not possible on the floor,no way,but with the right tools around you and some good knowledge it all helped.
So what went wrong or was tricky?
Removal from driving in to box out took just under 2 hours.
MOST of it was not bad at all to be honest, but it did have its tricky bits
The clamp holding the O/S driveshaft centre bearing is a nightmare,2 10mm bolts which are a nightmare to get to.
All 3 torque converter bolts were super tight.
Its a super heavy box!
Going back was longer but all was fine, until we went to start it,it seemed to have an earth issue.
The earth strap on the gearbox to body looked good and i cleaned it up,i did notice it wasn,t the original braided strap item.
Anyway after a bit of searching and a wingle on the strap(it was tight)it started straight away!
So we replaced this with the spare braided one i had and all was fine.
Exhaust is perfect,no noices, blowing etc,all gearbox oil is spot on and of course brand new.
We took it for a test drive and it drove fantastic, supersmooth gearchange,no rattles bangs etc and a lovely drive.
We checked everything over again to be sure then gave it a full service, oil, air, fuel filters and plugs, all genuine Renault.New coolant aswell after a good flush.
New front pads, new rear pads and discs, greased and oiled everything underneath and checked things over, all good.
So there it is,i,ve saved it,the main issue we found was the gearbox oil cooler was blocked solid on the bottom outlet so we guess it cooked the gearbox due to lack of coolant flow.
That box is now scrap!!

Me neither. Were you trying to post a picture? - If you email it to me I can put it there for you. In the meantime I've removed your surname.

The latest update is its back at home, and going for an MOT tommorrow, hopefully all will go well there.
Obviously its had a gearbox change with oils,a full service with genuine parts, new rear pads, discs, new front pads(discs are fine)
I ordered a brand new spare key which arrived yesterday,so thats good to know, coolant change and a full valet including a good Autoglym, but that didn,t cover the dents or scratches!

Now has a years MOT on it!
Only one advice which was slight play in N/S top mount, but thats fine.
So its all good to go,gave it another clean today and tightened the belts up a touch and that was it really,so its either enjoy it or sell ikt on if anyone shows an interest.
